LIVERPOOL ANNOUNCED PROMOTION TO FIRST TEAM FOR SUPER LEFT-BACK THIS MONTH AFTER TWO BIDS REJECTION

Liverpool have rejected two bids for returning loanee Owen Beck, who is expected to be given first-team opportunities in the near future.

The left-back was brought up from Dundee earlier this month due to an injury crisis in that area of the play at Anfield

Beck recorded two goals and two assists from the position in 17 Scottish Premiership matches, establishing a solid reputation in the process.

Due to the injuries to Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas, the club decided to cut Beck’s loan spell short, with Beck likely to have opportunities with the senior team in the coming weeks.

According to the Times, both Celtic and Rangers have made unsuccessful bids for the defender, implying that he will be given opportunities on Merseyside.

Celtic were interested in making a permanent deal for the youngster, while Rangers proposed bringing him back to Ibrox on loan.

The Reds have a hectic few weeks ahead, with fixtures in both domestic cup competitions clashing with a Premier League title chase.

Due to the absences of Robertson and Tsimikas, Joe Gomez has been obliged to fill in at left-back, but Beck’s success in Scotland has seen him emerge as a realistic option at Anfield.

Luke Chambers is another well-known left-back option, but the teenager has only made four senior appearances for the Reds this season.

Calum Scanlon has only appeared twice this season, with Beck seemingly above of both in the defensive pecking order.

His first chance to play could come against Arsenal this weekend, with the manager expecting to rotate his team for the FA Cup match due to the League Cup semi-final first leg against Fulham coming up just three days later.

The Reds play six games in January, but with Klopp aiming to get Robertson back next month, the 21-year-old might be sent out again before the transfer window closes.
