49ERS FUNNIEST MOMENT: Patrick Mahomes Reveals Hot News To Be Celebrated Ahead Of …….

San Francisco 49ers Had “Fun” Attempting To Imitate Patrick Mahomes Before The Super Bowl

The backup quarterbacks for the San Francisco 49ers have had a great week as they get ready for Super Bowl LVIII against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

In preparation for their matchup with Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII, the San Francisco 49ers have been practicing.

As part of their plan, they have a scout squad that plays defense by having reserve players simulate the opponent’s offense. Against the Chiefs, this may get complicated because of Mahomes’ special abilities and his impromptu plays with Travis Kelce.

Sam Darnold has had a lot of fun mimicking Patrick Mahomes in practice

It has fallen to backup quarterbacks Sam Darnold and Brandon Allen to simulate what the 49ers defense would face. They’ve loved attempting to play like Mahomes despite the pressure.

“It’s fun,” Darnold remarked. You are free to play and run about.” He continued: “It’s funny…the coaches come in the huddle and they’re like, ‘we want you to try and hit this, if it’s not there, scramble’, and I’m like, ‘alright, I was gonna do that anyway!’.”

He explained: “This whole week was just trying to hit number one and number two (receivers). If someone was wide open, hit it, but if they’re not then just scramble around to try and make a play.”

Allen, who’s at his third Super Bowl as a third-string quarterback, shared: “It’s been a fun couple of weeks for us.”

Brandon Allen has also enjoyed running scout team offense in Super Bowl prep

“Know what he (Mahomes) can do on that side of the ball,” he said, praising Mahomes as well. He is capable of insane plays and throws.”

“So they’ve kind of given me and Sam (Darnold) free reign to go out there and try all the throws,” Allen said while speaking about their practicing freedom. It’s been enjoyable to attempt to make the correct throws and then, after everything is covered, to rush and make a large throw.”

Compared to Kyle Shanahan’s rigid passing scheme, which has aided Brock Purdy in his success, this method is very different. Darnold and Allen are relishing this special Super Bowl preparation experience despite having distinct skill sets.
