Stunning Forward Joins The Lakers On a Two-Year Deal

Dylan Windler, a guard/forward, has signed a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, the team announced.

A few weeks ago, Windler was cut from his normal contract with the Knicks. On Friday night, he had a 23-point and 33-rebound performance in his debut with the Westchester Knicks.A single-game record for the G League was set with 33 rebounds.

With the Knicks, Windler inked a two-way contract during the summer, which he then changed to a regular deal earlier in the year.

He then alternated between Westchester Knicks and the parent team. With New York, he only made three appearances in games.

With the 26th overall choice in the 2019 NBA Draft, Windler was chosen by the Cavaliers; however, after the conclusion of the previous campaign, a qualifying offer was not extended. As a result, Windler became a free agent and signed with New York.

Throughout his first four seasons with the Cavaliers, Windler played in just 86 games due to injuries. It’s interesting to note that, despite missing just one game between high school and his four years of college at Belmont, he was somewhat of an ironman in his amateur career.

After missing his whole rookie year due to injury, Windler showed signs of promise in his second season, averaging a career-high 5.2 points. However, it wouldn’t have made sense for the Cavs to extend the $5 million qualifying offer this past summer considering how little time he’s been able to play since.

With the Lakers, he will wear number 20.
