After a year apart from St. Louis, the Cardinals signed Hurler to Increase Pitching Depth St. Louis signed a well-known player, giving the team even more depth.

The St. Louis Cardinals have been actively enhancing the organization’s depth.

In addition to signing many players to minor league contracts to help build organizational depth, St. Louis has acquired some intriguing talent to support the major league team.

The Cardinals continued adding Monday and re-signed minor league veteran reliever Jacob Bosiokovic after a year away from St. Louis, according to the club.

“We have signed (right-handed pitcher) Jacob Bosiokovic to a minor league contract for the 2024 season,” the club said. “Bosiokovic, 30, played in our system from 2021-22 and returns after pitching for the Atlantic League’s Charleston Dirty Birds in 2023, accumulating a 3.35 ERA and 12.1 SO/9 over 44 appearances.”

In the 19th round of the 2016 Major League Baseball June Amateur Draft, Bosiokovic was chosen by the Colorado Rockies, and he started playing professional baseball that same year.

The right-hander played in the Rockies’ minor system for the first four seasons of his professional career. Before the 2021 campaign, Bosiokovic became a member of the Cardinals organization. During the 2021 and 2022 seasons, he was a member of the Triple-A Memphis Redbirds and Double-A Springfield Cardinals.

He was primarily an offensive player in the Rockies system for the majority of his early professional career until switching to bullpen pitching when he joined the St. Louis team.

In 38 outings in 2021, Bosiokovic has a 3.97 ERA with an 82-to-29 strikeout-to-walk ratio. He made 15 appearances in 2023 with a 5.27 ERA as his follow-up. In 2023, he pitched for the Charleston Dirty Birds while playing independent baseball.
