Before the 2023 season, Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers parted ways. But Rodgers’ and the Jets’ 2023 season didn’t go as expected; the four-time MVP quarterback’s season ended after only four offensive plays.
The front staff delivered a bombshell to Rodgers and the team going ahead as the Jets focus on the 2024 campaign.
Former Green Bay Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers Continues To Make Decisions For New York Jets
New York Jets owner Woody Johnson spoke about Aaron Rodgers at the NFL Honors awards show on Thursday night. Johnson’s message to Rodgers made it clear that he was more impressed than frustrated with Rodgers’ contributions, even when he wasn’t playing. Rodgers has been criticized for his influence on offensive personnel, even when he wasn’t playing:
“He has strong opinions on the way the team is built, and we are digesting exactly how to interpret that,” Johnson said. “You need an interpreter a little bit there, but I couldn’t be more impressed.”
Rodgers had an influence last season on the Jets’ roster. Aside from Aaron Rodgers himself, the Jets had receivers Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb, offensive tackle Billy Turner, and safety Adrian Amos on their roster. All players who had spent time with Rodgers in Green Bay.
There are already reports that Rodgers will attempt to lure star wide receiver Davante Adams to New York this off-season. A move that would certainly cost the Jets numerous premium draft picks.
