Red Sox Supposedly Seeking To Add Outfielder; Slugger Reunion May Happen

Before the 2024 season, the Boston Red Sox could have one or more more moves planned. Boston still has to address a few gaps after having made a few acquisitions this summer.

The starting rotation is undoubtedly the area with the greatest need, but other areas on the roster may use improvement.
Although the team’s specific plans for Spring Training are still unknown, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports that the team is still trying to sign at least one outfield player.

“One industry source who has had recent contact with Red Sox said this morning they’re actively trying to add an outfielder to the mix,” Cotillo stated. “A right-handed bat makes the most sense.”

Red Sox Slugger's Priorities Do Not Appear To Align With Boston Entering Free Agency - Sports Illustrated Inside The Red Sox

Although a few players have been connected to the Red Sox, they haven’t been able to sign free agents. The All-Star slugger Jorge Soler is the most recent free-agency target that the Red Sox failed to sign.

The Red Sox allegedly made many mentions of Soler as a target, but he ultimately agreed to a three-year contract with the San Francisco Giants. Fortunately for Boston, the team still has a few strong options at its disposal.

Re-signing slugger Adam Duvall would be the simplest course of action. Despite battling several ailments, he made an impression during the 2023 season while playing for the Red Sox. Michael A. Taylor is another player who has occasionally been mentioned as a possible choice for Boston.
With the start of Spring Training quickly approaching, it wouldn’t be shocking if the Red Sox moved quickly.
