Garrett Stubbs of the Phillies and CJ Stubbs of the Astros Set To Face Off In a Battle……….

Garrett Stubbs of the Phillies and CJ Stubbs of the Astros Set to face off in a battle of brothers during spring training.

Garrett and CJ Stubbs, siblings, will play together on the diamond for the first time this Friday when the Philadelphia Phillies and Houston Astros play each other in the Grapefruit League.

Garrett and CJ Stubbs, brothers, are going to share a baseball diamond for the first time ever.

On Friday at Spring Training, catcher Garrett of the Philadelphia Phillies and catcher CJ of the Houston Astros will square off. At 1:05 p.m. ET, the two teams are set to play in a Grapefruit League game.

When Jayson Stark of The Athletic got up with the two in Clearwater, Florida, he confirmed that this was their first-ever experience playing on the same pitch at the same time.

Since Garrett was selected by the Astros in the eighth round of the 2015 MLB Draft, the Stubbs brothers spent three years together in the same organisation. In 2019, the year Garrett was called up to make his major league debut, the team selected CJ.

While CJ progressed through the minor leagues, Garrett spent the following few years alternating between Triple-A and the Major League Baseball.

But, Garrett was moved to Philadelphia in November 2021, thus the two were never able to play together in Houston. Nor did they ever play together at USC, their mutual alma mater.

Garrett Stubbs is about to begin his third season with the Phillies as a backup catcher. Stubbs has played in 87 games over the previous two seasons, batting.233 with six home runs, 28 RBI, a.681 OPS, and a 1.2 WAR.

In contrast, the younger Stubbs brother has not yet made an appearance in an MLB game. For the second year in a row, CJ is participating in big league Spring Training; in his four appearances, he is 0-for-6 with a strikeout.
