Ex-Viking Sharper charged with drugging, raping 2 women

The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office announced on Friday that former Minnesota Vikings safety Darren Sharper has been charged with drugging and raping two women in California, as reported by the Pioneer Press.

Sharper is scheduled to be arraigned today on “two counts of rape by use of drugs, four counts of furnishing a controlled substance, and one count of possession of a controlled substance,” according to a statement from the district attorney’s office.The Times-Picayune claims that Sharper might have behaved similarly in both situations. He is charged with luring the women into his hotel room and giving them shots of liquid that may have been laced with morphine and Ambien.

According to a Los Angeles police officer looking into the matter, Sharper is accused of raping seven women in total across four states (California, Arizona, Nevada, and Louisiana), according to USA Today.Sharper was detained in January in Los Angeles on suspicion of rape in relation to two separate accusations of sexual assault from October 2013 and this past month. According to WDSU News in New Orleans, there is another allegation against Sharper. In September 2013, a woman claimed to the police that Sharper had sexually assaulted her.
According to the Times-Picayune, Sharper may have acted similarly in each circumstance. The accusation against him is that he lured the women into his hotel room and gave them shots of liquid that might have included Ambien and morphine.

USA Today reports that a Los Angeles police officer investigating the case claims that Sharper is accused of raping seven women in all, spread across four states (California, Arizona, Nevada, and Louisiana).
