Manchester United Lead Liverpool In Race To Sign OGC Centre-Back

Liverpool is leading Manchester United in the race to sign OGC Nice center-back Jean-Clair Todibo (24), however, the France international is not expected to leave this January, according to Nice-Matin.

Todibo had been strongly linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur this month, however, the club ultimately opted to recruit Radu Dragusin, who has now completed his move from Genoa. It now looks increasingly likely that Todibo will not leave Nice this month.

Not only does the Frenchman’s €60m price tag put off potential suitors this month, but Todibo himself is keen to remain at the Allianz Riviera.

FEATURE | Jean-Clair Todibo (24) has rebuilt his career at Nice, however, amidst interest from Manchester United, Chelsea, and Tottenham, he is now ready to be taken out of his comfort zone.

He is keen to maintain continuity between now and the end of the season to consolidate his place in the France setup ahead of EURO 2024, whilst, at the club level, he is at the heart of the best defense in Ligue 1, and in a team that is fighting for the title.

However, Todibo could move at the end of the season. The link to Manchester United is logical and also realistic, however, it is local rivals Liverpool who are currently in pole position to sign Todibo, who is close to Ibrahima Konaté. With Virgil Van Dijk (33) not getting any younger, Jürgen Klopp is tempted by the possibility of an all-French Todibo-Konaté center-back partnership.
