PANTHERS NEWS: Carolina Panthers Coordinator High In Demand Becomes Finalist For Second NFL Head Coaching Position

What Is The Current Status Of The Carolina Panthers?

The Carolina Panthers, by any conceivable metric, had a dismal 2023 season: They finished with a league-worst 2-15 record, fired their head coach after 11 games, and to cap it all off, don’t even have their first-round pick (the 1st overall) in the upcoming NFL draft, having traded it to the Chicago Bears for the rights to take struggling quarterback Bryce Young in 2023.

Things could, really, not be a lot worse in Charlotte, even if their new quarterback does have a little fire to counteract his outwardly cool demeanor. Yet, it seems like one of the few bright spots of the past year – the defense – may be in jeopardy for the Panthers, as their defensive coordinator, Ejiro Evero, is now a finalist for a 2nd head coaching vacancy, per Tom Pelissero.

The Atlanta Falcons job was seemingly wrapped up with the likely hiring of all-time great, Bill Belichick, but owner Arthur Blank is doing his due diligence in casting a wide net that includes other big-name head coaches.

Whilst the Panthers were dreadful offensively, ranking last in pretty much every real and logically possible statistic, the defense was quite good, coming 4th in total defense. So, alongside the Panthers, for whom Evero is also a finalist, the Falcons may well decide to bid for his services as head coach.

Let’s wait and see who Blank chooses, and if given the choice, who Evero does too.
