A Big One For Dallas Cowboys

The Miami Dolphins have signed safety Marcus Maye, according to Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report. Maye, 31, was a former second-round draft pick for the New York Jets in 2017. Maye played with the New York Jets from 2017 to 2021 and then spent the past two seasons with the New Orleans Saints.

Maye has appeared in and started 77 career NFL games, recording 8 interceptions. He has only appeared in 10 and 7 games over the last two seasons, respectively. He only appeared in six games in 2021, and his last complete season was in 2020, which was his greatest season to date. In 2021, Maye tore his Achilles tendon, and in 2023, he was suspended for three games for violating the NFL’s substance usage policy.

Maye faced charges in October 2021 for a DUI arrest made in February of that year. In September 2022, Maye was arrested for aggravated assault with a firearm. According to local authorities, the event stemmed from a road rage incident in which Maye was accused of brandishing a gun at a car full of juvenile ladies. Local bystanders were able to subdue Maye until the local police came.Last season at New Orleans, he appeared in and started seven games, recording two interceptions and 37 tackles.

He joins the Dolphins to add much-needed depth at safety. The Dolphins lost Brandon Jones and DeShon Elliott this offseason and only signed Jordan Poyer, who is 33 years old. He will most likely serve as the primary backup to Jevon Holland, Jordan Poyer, and Elijah Campbell at the safety position.
