2 buyout candidates Bulls must pursue after the 2024 NBA Trade Deadline

After having a dismal start to the season, the Chicago Bulls have improved, but they are still in the play-in/non-play-in mix. They stand an equal possibility of rising in the rankings and disappearing entirely from the postseason picture. To the dismay of the fans, they chose to remain in their current location at the NBA trade deadline. If the Bulls truly want to contend for a postseason berth, they should immediately focus on the buyout market. The Bulls may have their sights set on Kevin Knox and Danilo Gallinari.

With a record of 25–28, the Bulls are presently ranked ninth in the Eastern Conference. That would suffice as a stand-in position. They lead the 11th-seeded Atlanta Hawks by three and a half games at this point. The Bulls are in charge of their postseason fate. Taking part in the takeover market might bolster that effort.
Danilo Gallinari should be Bulls’ top option on the buyout market

On the buyout market, Danilo Gallinari is likely to be among the most sought-after players. If the Bulls decide to go after him, they will undoubtedly have competition for his services. Gallinari is likely to attract interest from a few rivals, but the Bulls are by no means among them. The fact that the Bulls need Gallinari more than those other teams and would be able to use him right away could be one selling factor, though.
Gallinari would have to choose them over a club like the Boston Celtics or something like that, though, if they had more compelling selling reasons. Furthermore, it’s unclear if Gallinari truly has what it takes to fill the position the Bulls would need him to. Despite the tiny sample size of his few games with the Pistons, he did shoot 58.3 percent from three-point range and 54.5 percent from the field.

With Zach LaVine sidelined for the season due to an injury, the Bulls’ wing depth is now a little questionable. If Gallinari joined the Bulls, he would probably be a key small-forward player.

Kevin Knox may be a compelling choice for the Bulls.

With the Bull’s wing depth not very strong right now, Kevin Knox could be someone they opt to pursue on the buyout market. Knox was having a solid season for the Detroit Pistons before he was shipped to the Utah Jazz at the trade deadline. The Jazz opted to cut him and he’s officially cleared waivers.

Except his NBA debut, Knox’s career has not exactly been spectacular. When he did receive regular minutes, though, he seemed to be gelling with the Pistons. With 46.2 percent shooting from the field, 33 percent from the three-point line, and 90.9 percent from the free throw line, he was averaging 7.2 points and 2.4 rebounds per game.

Since Knox is only 24 years old, he may yet have more to give. Compared to other Bulls wing possibilities like Julian Phillips and Dalen Terry, he has produced more.

Given the Bulls’ current standings, Knox could be more inclined to sign with them than Gallinari. Candidates will be very interested in Gallinari. However, Knox may out to be one of those high-reward, low-risk additions that pay off in the long term.
