NBA fines Bucks for comments about offering ‘supermax’ to Giannis Antetokounmpo

NEW YORK: The NBA said today that the Milwaukee Bucks had been fined $50,000 for breaking league regulations about when to talk to players about potential contracts and acceptable commitments. The sanction came in reaction to General Manager Jon Horst‘s recent public declaration that Giannis Antetokounmpo “will be offered a supermax extension” during a team function that was televised.

NBA regulations state that teams are not allowed to promise to grant a “supermax” contract until the summer after a player completes their seventh NBA season.
