Former Texans punter Cameron Johnston, the first free agent the Steelers signed during the NFL’s permitted tampering period, has a contract in place. According to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team, Johnston signed a three-year, $9 million contract with the Steelers.

Using data from Spotrac, Johnston’s estimated $3 million annual average would put him in a four-way tie for the fourth-highest paid punter in the NFL. Additionally, it will exceed the reported one-year, $1.2 million deal that the Steelers signed quarterback Russell Wilson to.
