Milwaukee Brewers: Corbin Burnes strikes out his first batter as a Baltimore Orioles starter, and Rhys Hoskins hits a home run (Watch)
On Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at American Family Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, first baseman Rhys Hoskins (17) of the Philadelphia Phillies smashed a two-run home run during the third inning of their game against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Major League Baseball, including the Milwaukee Brewers, is in the midst of spring training. For the brewers, this spring is going to be very different from prior ones. After leaving Milwaukee to manage the Chicago Cubs, Craig Counsell has been disparaging the Brewers and their supporters ever since.
The Baltimore Orioles acquired Corbin Burnes, the 2021 National League Cy Young Award winner, in exchange for left-handed pitcher DL Hall and infielder Joey Ortiz. Apart from these well-known figures, the Brewers have also brought in.
The Phillies chose to shift two-time National League MVP Bryce Harper to first base, thus, they signed first baseman Rhys Hoskins to a two-year, $34 million contract (the second year is a player option). Hoskins missed all of 2023 due to injury. Hoskins is a genuine deep threat in the middle of the Brewers hitting order, even if he did not play last season. He takes over for Rowdy Tellez, who signed a contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates after being non-tendered.
The supporters are eager to watch how the new players and departing players at their clubs will perform as the season approaches.

During his final season on the field, Hoskins amassed 30 home runs and 79 RBI while hitting.246/.332/.462. He has played in four complete seasons and has never finished with fewer than 27 home runs in one. He had 10 in 41 games during the COVID-19-shortened 2020 season, and 18 in 50 games as a rookie in 2018.
He didn’t start for the Brewers in their spring training opener against Freddy Peralta, but he did take part in a practice game. He also grabbed Peralta DEEP:
After tearing his ACL, Hoskins is still striving to get his knee back into playing condition. He claims he can do what he has to, but there is no way to make up for gaming pace.
Ace Corbin Burnes, formerly of the Milwaukee Brewers, strikes out the first batter he faces for the Baltimore Orioles.
Naturally, one of the top strikeout pitchers in the game is Burnes. Because of this, nobody was shocked when he struck out the first hitter he faced in his Orioles debut:
