IT’S TOO MUCH__ Baltimore Ravens Release Star Pass Rusher Despite 2024 Free Agency Window As He Continue To……….

The Ravens released one of their better players over the past five seasons.

The Baltimore Ravens are expecting a significant exodus on defence this offseason because to increased spending on its key players. The largest consequence, of course, is the initial lift to superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson’s contract, which includes a $32.4 million cap cost for the team next season. That has left Baltimore scrambling for inventive ways to save money on the salary cap next season.

Baltimore announced early Wednesday that they would be releasing outside linebacker Tyus Bowser. The standout linebacker has 19.5 sacks in six years with the team, but he missed eight games last season with a knee ailment.

Bowser was only expected to weigh in at $7.5 million against the salary budget in 2024, but his injury history hampered his progress, as he was limited to only two sacks in 2023. Baltimore will save $5.5 million against the cap by releasing him, which includes a $2 million dead cap penalty. Bowser’s angry exit from Baltimore was expected when the organisation chose great Michigan linebacker David Ojabo with a second-round pick in 2022.

The move comes after Baltimore made a slew of cap-cutting moves, including moving safety Chuck Clark to the New York Jets for a seventh-round pick last season. Following the departure of safety Geno Stone to the Cincinnati Bengals and Clark’s trade, Kyle Hamilton and Marcus Williams are the only two safeties from last season’s active roster who are still under contract.

Following big-ticket extensions for some of their superstars, Baltimore has been struggling financially this summer to come back under the salary cap. The team also modified superstar left tackle Ronnie Staley’s deal this morning, saving the team about $8 million in cap space. The reworked contract increased Staley’s incentive-based bonuses at the expense of his base income.

Even though Baltimore is battling with the cap, they have been able to retain the majority of its key players on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball in recent seasons. Baltimore must find competent replacements, or they risk opening the floodgates defensively with some of the budgetary decisions they’ve had to make.
