NFL Rumours: Jaguars’  Superstar Confirmed To Receive Franchise Tag for $24M Contract

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler on Sunday’s SportsCenter, Josh Allen, the outstanding edge-rusher for the Jacksonville Jaguars, is “largely expected” to earn the $24 million franchise tag this offseason. However, “they haven’t done it yet, so we’ll see.”

In 2023, Allen, 26, had a career-high 66 tackles (17 for loss), 17.5 sacks, 33 quarterback hits, two forced fumbles, an interception, and a pass defensed. He had career highs in sacks, quarterback hits, and tackles for loss.

Despite the inability to reach a long-term agreement, he played the previous season under his $10.8 million fifth-year option. If they used the franchise tag, they would have more time to reach a consensus.

And a reunion is something that both parties desire. In February, reporters were informed by general manager Trent Baalke that Allen “is going to be a Jaguar next year.”

The elite edge-rusher said, “I’m a legacy guy,” on his own. “I have a great opportunity to continue to leave a legacy here and I’m going to continue that as much as I can and stand on that.”

He went on, “I want to be a Jag, man.” “The appropriate manner. I’ll carry it out correctly. I have nothing else to say.
