Both players have had an instant effect since joining the Hornets in a deadline-day deal with the Dallas Mavericks.
Curry and Williams have combined for 57 points on an effective 19 of 37 shooting in their two games since joining the Hornets. Charlotte defeated the Pacers and Grizzlies in both of their games.
Although their contributions to the stat sheet are welcomed, their excitement and winning mentality—two qualities that the young Hornets club has badly lacked—may have been the most important additions to the game.
In a post-Monday night interview, Williams stated, “We’re trying to build habits, build culture, and build a team that impacts winning.” The Hornets defeated the Jazz on Monday. “I think we’re creating something here, and it’s something you want for your hometown.”
Williams, a South Charlotte native and Providence Day School alum, said in the interview that spectators “bought-in” after the match. To be honest, not much has happened like that at Spectrum Centre lately. But in the last moments of Monday’s victory, the enthusiasm spread from the court into the seats, where supporters were up and yelling for the home team.
Curry and Williams were key players in the victory over the Pacers.

Curry, who came off the bench to score 18 points, spoke about the value of energy in the building after the game.
He declared, “We have talent on our roster.” “As long as we play with energy here—as long as we come in here and play with energy—you can tell that everyone is excited to be here no matter what the circumstances are, especially after midseason trades.”
Similar to Williams’ strong connection to Charlotte, Curry derives additional significance from his performance in Queen City. He also mentioned how he had always wanted to wear purple and teal. Dell Curry is the younger son of the legendary Hornets coach Dell Curry and the brother of Steph Curry of the Warriors.
He remarked, “I’ve always wanted to play here, put this jersey on, and just kind of live in the moment right now.” “I’m just enjoying myself and the opportunity to come back here and compete.”
The Hornets host the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday night for their upcoming home game.
