On Saturday night, Lucas Luetge, a left-handed reliever, was signed by the Red Sox. According to several rumors, it is most likely on a minor-league contract.
Luetge will be pitching for his fourth team in his Major League Baseball career—the Red Sox. Luetge spent two years with the New York Yankees before pitching for the Atlanta Braves in 2023.
Luetge, who turns 37 next month, used a social media post to announce his contract with the Red Sox.
“I’m 17 years old and returning to the Northeast! Happy to be a part of the Red Sox organization,” Luetge wrote on the X network.
After being dealt by the Yankees to Atlanta in December 2022, Luetge appeared in 12 games for the Braves in the previous season.
