SHOCKING__Astros Releases Surprising Decision After Contract Discussion On Whether To Extend All-Star Outfielder

Astros To Discuss Contract Extension With All-Star Outfielder

The Houston Astros appear committed to securing the long-term contracts of their core group of productive players.
Jose Altuve was the first one. Then word leaked out that Alex Bregman will at least receive an extension with the Houston Astros.
It seems like the Astros will give Kyle Tucker another go.
Although Tucker isn’t a free agent until after the 2025 season, Brown recently stated on MLB Network Radio that the Astros plan to speak with Tucker about a contract extension.
In terms of extensions, the Astros have evolved into a proactive team. Last year, Brown successfully negotiated a five-year agreement for pitcher Cristian Javier, which helped him get through his arbitration years.

The Astros guaranteed that Altuve would stay in Houston for possibly the remainder of his career last week when they extended his contract for five years and $125 million.
Perhaps Tucker’s extension will tell a different tale. Tucker, who will be 27 this season, came in fifth place in the AL MVP vote the previous year. If he stays in Houston once his deal is finished, he may be a key player long after Altuve retires.

Tucker has already traveled this path for the Astros. Tucker and the team attempted but were unable, to get an agreement for 2022 that would have carried him through his arbitration seasons.

This season, Tucker and the Astros reached a $12 million agreement to stay out of arbitration. However, the outfielder’s 2025 arbitration cost may be close to $20 million considering how his stats are increasing each time.
In 2023, Tucker slashed 284/.369/.517/.886 with 29 home runs, 112 RBI, and 30 stolen bases to win his first Silver Slugger. His 112 RBI set a record for the American League.
In addition to being a two-time All-Star, he won a Gold Glove in 2022 and has been in the top 20 players for MVP the last two seasons.
