The Los Angeles Rams have had a busy free agency session so far, signing Jonah Jackson to complete their 2024 offensive line and reuniting with cornerback Darious Williams, among other moves.
However, the Rams’ offseason is only beginning, and they have stated that they intend to be aggressive with their resources this summer. Tre’Davious White, an All-Pro cornerback for the Buffalo Bills, is one fascinating candidate.
White, 29, was one of football’s greatest defensive backs from 2017 to 2020. During that time, he earned two All-Pro teams and appeared in two Pro Bowls, finishing second in the voting for Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2017. However, injuries have plagued White, limiting him to 10 games in the last two seasons. A torn Achilles ended his 2023 season after just four games.
After being released, White is now a free agent, and it appears that he will leave Buffalo. The Rams, who are still looking for secondary depth, are allegedly scheduled to speak with White this week as he looks for a new home, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.
The signing of White would enhance both the Rams and the Las Vegas Raiders’ secondary. Injuries are, of course, a concern, but there is no disputing his all-around brilliance when he is healthy. Between 2017 and 2020, he recorded 54 pass deflections and 15 interceptions, including a league-high six in 2019.
Williams and Derion Kendrick are now the Rams’ primary corners, and White, if healthy, could easily replace either as the No. 1 cornerback. Rams making a significant offensive line move.
The Rams are making a significant move by signing Jackson from the Detroit Lions to be their starting guard. They intend to move Steve Avila, a 2023 second-round draft pick, to centre. Coleman Shelton, the starting centre, agreed to a deal with the Chicago Bears, leaving the position available.
