Texans Head Coach Reveals Latest News On QB Deshaun Watson, Whether He Could Face More Punishment From NFL

Deshaun Watson, the quarterback for the Cleveland Browns and a former member of the Houston Texans would have to provide further testimony in connection with a 2021 sexual assault case.
A request was made to “compel Watson to testify in another in-person deposition” before a Harris County, Texas court.

The motion alleges that Watson, who last testified on June 9, was asked about separate sexual assault during the deposition, which was abruptly interrupted by Watson’s lawyer, Rusty Hardin.
This could have unjustly stopped Watson from sharing certain information or responses that were pertinent to the case.
Two of the 26 women who sued Watson are still in court; the other 23 settled, and the 26th woman withdrew her complaint.
The NFL banned Watson for 11 games in 2022, which caused his Cleveland career to begin later than expected.

The other accusations against Watson will eventually go to trial, according to Florio, barring a settlement or dismissal. “Given the evidence that may surface in the remaining cases and/or final verdicts, the NFL has not entirely ruled out the possibility of further punishment, even though he has been suspended 11 games for the allegations.”
