Arsenal and Chelsea given new cheaper Gyokeres transfer price tag
Viktor Gyokeres has enjoyed a spectacular season at Sporting after making the move from Coventry City last summer.
Arsenal might sign Viktor Gyokeres for less than his €100 million (£86 million) release clause, according to reports.
Sporting Clube de Portugal has extensively recorded the 25-year-old’s €100 million release clause, amid transfer rumours to Arsenal and Chelsea. However, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, teams may complete a deal this summer for half the fee.
They believe that Sporting has since set a €50 million (£43 million) price tag on the Sweden international and may be willing to agree to a trade at that price in the summer. Along with Arsenal and Chelsea, AC Milan is rumoured to be interested in signing the attacker.
According to reports, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, a senior advisor at the San Siro, might play an important role in convincing the Swede to make the transfer. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan has been monitoring him since before his move to Sporting, as they hunt for a long-term replacement for Olivier Giroud.
However, it is said that Arsenal and Chelsea are “in the front row” to sign Gyokeres. Milan would find it “impossible to keep up” if European teams engaged in a bidding war this summer.
