WASHINGTON HOTTEST NEWS: Club Owner Declares Super Exciting News For Washington Nationals

Nationals owner says team is no longer for sale

The Washington Nationals are off the auction block as spring training gets underway.

The club’s major owner, Mark Lerner, informed the Washington Post on Monday that the Lerner family has chosen not to pursue a sale of the Nationals. A representative for the news verified it on other sites.

The club, which Forbes presently values at $2 billion, was put up for sale, as the Lerner family disclosed in April 2022.
Among those interested in purchasing the Nats was Ted Leonsis, whose Monumental Sports and Entertainment owns Washington’s NBA, WNBA, and NHL teams. Last month, Mike Arougheti and millionaire David Rubenstein from Maryland were the other bidders who bought the Baltimore Orioles.

The Nationals have gone 217-329 over the last four seasons while trading off key players including Trea Turner, Max Scherzer, and Juan Soto. Since winning the World Series in 2019, the team has not made it back to the postseason.
