Washington Reports: Capitals Impressive As Club Activate veteran winger T.J. Oshie off injured Reserve

Following T.J. Oshie’s removal from injured reserve on Monday, Sammi Silber of The Hockey News reported that the Capitals have added a seasoned winger back to their lineup.

With the team stating that winger Tom Wilson was out with an upper-body injury, he replaced Wilson in the starting lineup.

Oshie had been out for almost three weeks with an upper-body non-contact injury. The 37-year-old has been considerably more prolific recently, despite his season stats (10 goals and 8 assists in 38 games) being a little disappointing for someone who is used to being a vital secondary scorer.

Oshie has eight goals and six assists in 17 games since the year 2024 began, which is far more than what Washington needs and demands from the veteran.

Wilson, on the other hand, is having a poor offensive year right now. He leads the league in penalty minutes once more and has 15 goals and 13 assists through 61 games. But his average of 0.46 points per game is the lowest it has been since the 2017–18 season.

When the Capitals signed him to a seven-year, $45.5 million contract deal back in August, it was not what they had hoped for. Wilson will be replaced by Oshie on Washington’s second line.

Despite being cleared for contact in recent days, Martin Fehervary, the defenseman, and centre Nic Dowd have not yet been reinstated off injured reserve.

After carrying the minimum in recent days, the Capitals will have 23 players on their active roster once again when that time comes.
